Bonjour ! Je m’appelle Mademoiselle Bright!

Here is a quick overview of our language teaching at Rose Hill. We celebrate all languages and cultures but as French is my speciality, we study the French language as well as the French speaking countries’ cultures around the world.

In years 3 and 4 we learn French through speaking, reading and writing but most of the learning continues to be very oral. We learn to greet people and give personal details such as name, age, and play games practising numbers, animals, body parts, etc. In years 5 and 6 we are able to make longer sentences and spoken exchanges. We are more comfortable with basics and use our language knowledge in situations such as a fashion show, making sandwiches and in a café.

We want children to learn through enjoyment and develop curiosity and tolerance, but most of all we want them to possess valuable language skills to use in any language they wish to pursue in the future.
