Welcome to Hedgehogs
Hello and welcome to Hedgehogs class page, one of the three Key Stage 1 classes. I am Mrs Durham, the Hedgehogs class teacher and Key Stage 1 Phase Leader. I am also responsible for the learning of pupil premium pupils at Rose Hill Primary School (more information about this can be found in the ‘Pupil Premium’ section of the website under the ‘Inclusion’ tab).
I have been teaching at Rose Hill for 6 years, and this is my second year in KS1! Everyone that knows me will know that my favourite three things are reading, chocolate and the Lion King! At university I studied the teaching of English to KS2/3 so I have also experienced teaching in secondary school. I absolutely love talking about books so if you are ever reading a book that you think I would love, please come and find me in Hedgehogs classroom to share it!
This term, in history and geography we will be learning all about where our food comes from and the changes that have been made to farming through history. We will learn about what foods grow in the UK and what we need to import from other countries.
In art, we will be exploring the artistic mediums of collage and printing! We will be looking at the works of Matisse and Cezanne and learning all about the effects of colours on the mood of a piece of art.
In science, we will be continuing to look at animals including humans as well as how diet and exercise can keep you healthy. There is so much to discover about the creatures all around the world! Do you have a favourite creature? Why don’t you come and let us know all about it!
